The Clerk's verdict

This shelf is a right state in the best possible way. You aren't just a casual listener; you're a completist who gets obsessed with specific eras and oddball runs. Most blokes have a few Beatles records and call it a day, but you've gone and built a fortress around the 2010s and 2020s, which account for nearly half of your thousand-record collection. The Various Artist run is what really kills me. Seventy-nine records spanning from 1985 to 2026 — from Ring Parade to comps that haven't even gone cold yet. That shows a real love for the scene as it happens, not just the big names on the marquee. You're tracking the movement of music through the labels, which is why you've got 480 different imprints represented here. Then there's the Mansun and Gorillaz stash. Twenty-two Mansun records tells me you probably spent a lot of time in the late 90s chasing B-sides and EP tracks, which fits the same pattern as your Everything Everything obsession. You don't just want the hits; you want the session scraps and the stuff most people ignore. It's a collection built on curiosity and a bit of a manic streak. Keep it up.

The Clerk's take

The roast

Forty-six Everything Everything records?

Proper mental. You've got 46 records by Everything Everything and somehow only 26 by The Beatles. I've seen some deep dives behind this counter, but a Suffragette Suffragette through Get To Heaven B-sides run that massive is a hell of a choice. Absolute madness, mate.

Today's read

The session ghosts are everywhere.

Look at the credits and you'll see the same names popping up. Grippa, Brian Pugsley, and John Potoker show up on four of your records each. Even 'House' Marty has his prints on three of them. These blokes are the connective tissue of your entire shelf, innit.

The win

A massive 2010s haul.

The 2010s are your heartland with 266 records, but the 2020s are catching up fast with 217. That Various run from 1985 all the way to a 2026 'Big In' comp is proper commitment. Keeping the faith for forty years across 79 different compilations is class.

Buried treasure

Dig out that Babybird run.

You've got 21 Babybird records from a specific 2019 to 2026 window. Happy Stupid Nothing through that Gig Only Album isn't something you see every day. Most people stopped at the hits, but you went down the rabbit hole. Get those on the deck tonight, wanker.
